Rio to lead England to World Cup

John Terry has been stripped of the England captaincy and our Rio will lead the Three Lions to South Africa. Capello made the announcement after a showdown with Terry to discuss the recent revelations of his private life.

It's been a tough season for Rio Ferdinand as he's battled with injuries and constant criticism about his performances. This is a great opportunity to prove he is still a dominant figure for both club and country.

Hopefully now Rio can set that standard and become that role model that Terry never was.  Being a captain isn't just about being a good player but also having the ability to deal with the responsibility that comes off-the-field.

Chelsea fans will obviously disagree and believe that a weeping, cheatingthieving, 'kisses the badge then wants to leave' player that he is should be captain of the England football team. You can watch the Chelsea fans back their laughable captain on Sky Sports News.

Capello has to be respected for his decision, which might anger some of the country. However, Terry should have made the decision for him. He should have done the right thing and stepped down for his own actions. However, he made Capello decide for him and we all know that he isn't the most forgiving manager England have had.

Is Rio Ferdinand the right man for the job? Or should the captaincy been given to someone else?
