United CityAs soon as we knew City we through, it was the tie that we knew would come out. United have been drawn to play away against City in what will be a massive semi-final.

Sir Alex has already stated that he will continue to play the youngsters and it's likely that City will play their first team just as they did against Arsenal.

All eyes turn to Premier League after International Controversy

Posted by Indy in Club News

Indy

The International games are finally over after a week full of controversy and enough talk about handballs to make my head burst. Too me it's been blown out of proportion although I do have sympathy for Ireland. However, that’s a discussion for another day and I'm only interested in one team, United.

United named 'best supported club in Europe'

Our fans

Well, ain't that a surprise (sarcasm creeping in). United have been named the best supported club in Europe according to Futebol Finance. They have leapt in front of Spanish clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona and now top the list.

There has been some critism about ticket prices and with the recession there are a noticable amount of empty seats at Old Trafford for a few games this season. However, our fans still manage to support our team in thier numbers from all over the UK and many from different countries. Sorry Madrid, you may have Ronaldo and Kaka, but we still are the biggest club in the world, FACT!

The league is based on average attendances for every European club from the 08/09 season. Whist we know the Premier League is the best league in the world, there are only two English clubs that feature in the top ten. Other teams that missed out of the top ten are Chelsea (27) and Inter Milan (13). Even though Newcastle were relegated to the Championship last season, they still manage to come in 18th above Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City. Middlesbrough also feature in the list of most supported clubs in Eurpe.

United tell supporters to stop 'disgusting chant'

When Arsene Wenger was sent the stands in the match against United earlier this season, there was a chorus of laughter around the stadium. Following that came a chant, which Manchester United themselves have called disgusting.

United Fans4 arrests were made after United beat Barnsley to progress into the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup. Fans were reported to have thrown missles and broken into a kiosk stealing food and money.

The FA have also confirmed they are investigating  the incident along with the support of Barnsley. Staff were told not to sell alcohol to United fans at half-time which then set off a small fraction of United fans. Four men were arrested for breaking into the kiosk and taking food and  money from tills.

Any fans caught in the act can expect lifetime bans and rightly so. These few fans were only a small fraction of the United fans and journalists saying it was a riot need to shut the f**up. By far was it a riot and some saying it can be compared to the West Ham vs Millwall trouble is ludacris.

After yesterday's dissapointing performance the pressure is now on the players to ensure it was just a blip in our hunt for a fourth consecutive league title. With Barnsley in the League cup on Tuesday and Blackburn in the League on the weekend the pressure in on to put things right.
