Sir Alex believes 'Kiko' Macheda will return to action in the next fortnight. With Owen out for the season and Welbeck on loan at Preston, the return of Kiko will give Sir Alex a handy alternative to the options he already has in Rooney, Berbatov and Diouf.

Kiko has not played since December after suffering a calf strain. While he's only made five appearances this season, we all hope he can make the same impact as he did last season.  Macheda scored two vital goals against Villa and Sunderland, helping United secure a third consecutive League title.

"Macheda started light training this week," said Ferguson.

Kiko Macheda has penned a new four-year contract extension to keep him at the Theatre of Dreams until at least 2014. The youngster has been a favourite with fans after scoring that all-important goal against Villa, which I was lucky enough to witness at Old Trafford last season.

Macheda has only made four appearences this season but the he's still young and will get plently of chances later on in the season. Ferguson also believes the 18-year old italian has a bright futre ahead of him.

"We're delighted by the new four-year deal," manager Alex Ferguson said on United's website.

"Everyone at the club recognises the fantastic talent he has and we hope to see that develop in the next years, so he becomes a well rounded player."
